Plein air Watercolour Classes at Port Fairy
November 5th - 14th 2010. Lock these dates in early.
Each year this excursion gets more popular attracting participants from many states to this special location on the South West coast of Victoria.
A new session in May has been added to the calendar this year to enable those who find the November dates difficult. the same routine applies although the May session is a shorter time.
Ev is teaching nine days of on loctaion magic in and around Port Fairy. An historic wharf on the Moyne River that is still used as a commercial fishing port as well as for recreational boating, provides unlimited material for those who love boats. Beaches vary from the classic white sandy bay beaches to the drama of volcanic rocks and southern ocean surf as they meet with dramatic intensity and a range in between. Then for those who love old classic buildings there is a wealth of inspiration here as well as much of the town is a heritage precinct. Moving just one block from the ocean and we have classic farming scenes with blue stone cottages thrown in. This area was settled by the Irish and so the style of farm building often represents that era, add to this rolling green pastures, the odd cow and rivulet and it is really pastoral bliss. Travel just ten minutes and there is the Volcanic Crater at Tower Hill which provides unbelievable vistas to the surrounding district as well as a view down into the (often) water filled craters. Top this off with some fabulous people subjects, such as figures fishing from the jetty, folk having a coffee in a quaint cafe setting, to figures at the beach or just walking down the street or chatting about the days events and you really have just about anything you would care to paint, plus more. Because this workshop is for an extended period Ev is happy for people to come for 2, 4, 5 or 9 days, whatever they can manage.
All in all a concentrated period of painting such as this really accelerates the learning curve as you build from one day to the next, new ideas and skills to match. Great friendships are formed with people of similar interests and the fresh air is always good for the body as you soak up the sea breeze and blow the cobwebs right off the page. Don't miss out Contact Us
and be part of this great adventure.
